Being in a new space creates the need to locate oneself, to mark on a map that which is familiar. I am proposing paths that begin to make sense when we pause to observe the city as a stage setting in which to be lost or found, for waiting, to be idle, to be afraid, for dreams, for accidents, for life and for death.

The development of these paths generates symbols that permit the feeling of a more relaxed city, a cartography based on experience where doing and seeing make sense and that puts into play the imagination which unfolds based on our presence.

“That which is produced is an incessant exchange between external and internal realities, a game between mutual attractions and repulsions that, through a continuous wandering and investigation in the streets, and by exploring the most unexpected relations that occurr in them, are converted into that great store of miracles that we are offered as we experience urban spaces.”  Marchan Fiz, Simón.

Competition - MAMM - Museum of Modern Art Medellin

INTER-VENGA Call for temporary intervention of the new site of the Museum of Modern Art, Medellin, Colombia.

TITLE: Other ways of inhabiting the MAMM (Museum of Modern Art Medellin) Temporary interventions to open our museum.

INTRODUCTION (THE PROJECT'S PHILOSOPHY)

There will be 31 reasons to be at the MAMM in October. The “Talleres Robledo” building - once part of the old iron and steel factory Simesa- has been restored to be the new location of the Museum of Modern Art Medellin. The place is an industrial warehouse, which has been recycled using the most advanced museum infrastructures of nowadays, something that will allow artistic experiences of all kinds and the highest level to take place there. The museum has decided to create a space for the participation and massive meeting of artists and creative minds of all fields by opening a public international call, through which an important part of the inauguration will be defined. Professionals in the fields of plastic and visual arts, graphic and industrial design, architecture, music, dance and others are invited to participate in this call, so they can intervene our new site by the implementation of an aesthetic experience.

DOWNLOAD VIA ITUNES | SUBSCRIBE VIA RSS EXCLUSIVE: Richard Tuttle discusses his philosophical relationship to art and life in his New Mexico studio. Richard Tuttle commonly refers to his art as drawing rather than sculpture, emphasizing the diminutive scale and idea-based nature of his work. He subverts the conventions of modernist sculptural practice by creating small, [...]
  • In Celebration of Online Archives
In 2006, the Smithsonian Archives of American Art began digitizing all of the Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner papers, photographs, and ephemera in their archives. Now that the 15,096-image collection is available online, I can’t tear myself away. According to the Smithsonian Archives website, the papers measure 15.6 linear feet and date from circa [...]
  • Wrestling with the Past: A TwCA 2008-2009 Roundup
It’s been quite a year. Quite an academic year, that is. Between the country voicing a collective NO to four more years of the same Bushed policies and Bernie Madoff being sentenced to the equivalent of a few lifetimes in prison, a lot has happened and been written about. While I haven’t had any obsessed [...]
